Botox and Fillers

Injectables we administer:

Botox

The pleasures in life can elicit a wide range of emotions: joy, glee, surprise. Repeated use of our facial expressions and muscle contractions, though, can create fine lines and wrinkles over time. Fortunately, we are able to stave off the development of lines, and even reverse them over time, with Botox.

What is Botox?

Botox is one of several brands of injectables used to soften the appearance and stop the formation of wrinkles. It works by temporarily preventing the muscles of facial expression from contracting. Botox is delivered by injecting a small amount into individual muscles, targeting specific areas of wrinkles. The full effect takes 3-4 days after injection, but will last 3-4 months.

What areas can I treat?

Botox is FDA approved in adults over 18 years of age for the treatment of crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. We welcome you to come in to discuss which treatments are best suited for you.

Kybella

The contour of a smooth jawline is a striking feature often associated with youth, beauty, masculinity, and femininity. The anatomy that forms the jawline includes the chin, jawbone, voicebox, and the skin and soft tissue under the jaw. The accumulation of fatty tissue under the jaw, whether it be from genetics, weight gain, or aging, can erase the definition of the jawline.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is an injectable substance that naturally targets fatty tissue, causing inflammation and melting away fat. This is a derivative of a fat-melting substance that occurs naturally in our bodies. As the fat melts away from Kybella, inflammation causes the skin to contract and tighten, creating a more defined jawline. This is a non-surgical alternative, and may not be suited for all patients. We welcome you to come in and discuss all options available to you.

What areas can I treat?

Kybella is FDA approved for treatment of submental fat under the jawline. Results will varying depending on how much Kybella is used. Treatments are administered one month apart, and most patients need between 3-5 treatments to achieve optimal results.

What to expect

Kybella injections are scheduled one month apart. We recommend that you schedule all your recommended treatments prior to starting in order to ensure optimal results. The injections dissolve fat through inflammation, so the area under the chin may become red, swollen, and painful in the days after surgery. As the amount of fat decreases, so will the amount of swelling after each treatment.

Fillers

As we age or lose weight, our faces lose volume in the form of fat. This can result in formation of deep lines around our cheeks and mouth, and loss of fullness in our cheeks and lips. A more refreshed and youthful appearance can be attained with injectable fillers.

What are fillers?

In the history of injectable fillers, multiple substances have been used to obtain our desired results. Fillers can be naturally-occurring or man-made, temporary or permanent. One of the most commonly used substances today is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance present in all animals. There is little concern for allergy to the substance. HA naturally dissolves over the course of 1-2 years.

What areas can I treat?

HA can be injected in multiple different areas of the face. Several formulations of HA are available, varying in thickness and duration. HA can be used to add volume to cheeks and lips, soften lines around the lips, and soften the deep folds around the cheeks and mouth. We welcome you to come in for a consultation to see which treatments are best for you.
